Details

The Shelf

The object is a rustic wooden wall shelf with three main shelves and an additional side shelf, connected by a wooden rod used for drying herbs. It serves as the central element of the scene, supporting all other objects placed on it.

The texturing shows strong signs of use, including stains, glass marks, and burn damage, as well as decorative engravings such as grooves and vine-like patterns. The design suggests that this object has belonged to a herb collector for many years and was likely hung inside a similarly rustic hut.

The Libra

The object is a heavily worn bronze scale, similar to those commonly used in the Middle Ages for weighing coins. Its two pans are suspended by thin metal chains. It also sits on the shelf, suggesting it was used for selling herbs and potions.

The texturing shows extensive signs of use across the entire object, including rust, dents, and general damage, especially in areas frequently handled. Even coin imprints are visible inside the pans. The design is intended to reflect the scale’s active and long-term use.

The Mortar

The object is a small white mortar and pestle made of granite. It is also part of the shelf setup and is placed on the additional side shelf, directly above the herb-drying rod. The texture indicates that this mortar must have been used very frequently, as both the pestle and the bowl show significant wear, including a brittle surface and deep scratches caused by grinding herbs, spices, and harder materials.

Residue can still be found inside the bowl. The design suggests that the mortar has served its owner well for many years, primarily used for producing pastes and crushing various ingredients.

The Lantern

The object is an old oil lamp with two side handles and a metal ring on top, allowing it to be easily hung. It is attached to the herb-drying rod of the shelf for convenient access. Glass and metal are treated separately, simplifying the texturing process.

While the metal shows surface scratches, dirt, and dust, especially along the edges—the milky glass is given a cracked, shard-like appearance, adding visual interest to the lantern. In addition, the glass is emissive, creating a subtle magical glow.

The design suggests that the lamp has been in use for many years and carries signs of wear from frequent nighttime use and exposure to the elements.

The Clock

The object is a small mantel clock with an elegant design, supported by a heavy marble base, while the clock itself is carved from fine dark wood. The detailed brass dial and the bird figure perched on top further enhance its antique appearance. It stands out from the otherwise rather modest furnishings of the shelf.

There are only minimal signs of wear, likely due to the object being rarely moved. The clock face is part of the texture and was not modeled. Overall, the design gives the impression of a valuable heirloom that the owner has placed on the shelf as a personal keepsake.
